I experienced a quintessential Kentucky childhood, growing up on my grandparents’ 36-acre farm in Eastern Jefferson County, which became my family’s cherished home. On our farm, we raised cows, and my mother’s horse, Honey, who was a legacy of my great uncle’s traveling rodeo.
From a young age, I learned the invaluable lesson of hard work, viewing it not as a chore but as a way of life. Summers were spent tirelessly cutting, raking, and bailing hay, mending fences, and caring for equipment for my family and neighbors.
My grandfather later in life began acquiring properties to provide affordable housing for low income families, eventually moving our family to a ten-acre farm in Shelbyville. This expansion included my grandmother realizing her lifelong dream of starting a horse farm. She would eventually have six horses and boarded others.
After my grandfather’s passing, I returned to manage the Jefferson County farm. When my daughter was born, I decided to sell the family farm, prioritizing my daughter’s future.
For nearly 22 years, I have been dedicated to the auto industry. I’ve spent almost a decade at Ford’s Kentucky Truck Plant. I also served just under six years as an Intelligence Analyst in the 20th Special Forces Group of the Kentucky Army National Guard, embodying my lifelong commitment to leading by example and being the change Kentucky needs.
